Good afternoon!

Since you were registered for our recent workshop on visual data science
and its role in computational medicine (TU Delft, Feb. 6, this year), I
thought to send you this announcement of five (5!) open positions (4 PhD
student positions and one PostDoc position), mostly in the field of
medical visualization and visual data science (at the University of Bergen):

++++++++ Five (5!) new positions in visualization research at the
University of Bergen, Norway ++++++++ three or four years ++++++++
medical visualization and visualization in general ++++++++ applications
until May 3 [1] ++++++++ seehttp://www.ii.UiB.no/vis/about/jobs.html
+++++++++

We are about to hire four (4!) PhD students and one PostDoc [1]!

We thus wish to broadly announce these positions and hope that we can
reach potentially interested candidates.

Would someone from your environment be interested, maybe?
Would you be so kind and share this information, accordingly?
Please let potential candidates know that they should apply until May 3
(soon!) and that they can certainly contact us if they have questions.

We really think that doing a PhD or PostDoc in visualization research at
the University of Bergen is highly rewarding: Not only do we offer a
motivating, enjoyable, and forward-thinking research environment, but
also our success rates indicate that joining us is very likely a really
good idea! :-)

Here's a super-short summary of the five (5!) positions:
-- one PhD student position is associated with medical visualization
research, led by Noeska Smit [2]
-- one PhD student position is associated with the MetaVis project
''Visual Exploration in Visualization Space'' [3], led by Stefan Bruckner
-- two PhD student positions are associated with our new VIDI project
''Visual Data Science for Large Scale Hypothesis Management in Imaging
Biomarker Discovery'' [4], led by Helwig Hauser (together with Stefan
Bruckner and Renate Grüner)
-- the PostDoc position is also associated with the new VIDI project

More details are available on our web pages [1-4]. Applications need to
be made through the Jobbnorge web portal, see
http://www.ii.UiB.no/vis/about/jobs.html

We would be grateful, if you would distribute this information to
potential candidates! Thank you very much!

With best regards,
Noeska Smit, Stefan Bruckner, and Helwig Hauser;

[3] The MetaVis project is funded by the Research Council of Norway and
aims to study the space of visualizations itself and how it can be
efficiently and effectively navigated. The goal is to develop
interactive visual methods to support users in choosing appropriate
visualization techniques for particular types of data and tasks.
