Applications are invited for a full-time postdoctoral researcher in the
development of Human Computer Interfaces and Visualization techniques of
Corpus-based Lexicography & Academic Writing at the School of Computer
Science, Bangor University.

The objective of this AHRC-funded post is to research how information to
help writers produce more accurate and idiomatic texts can be migrated
from dictionaries and corpora to digital writing environments in an
optimum, minimally intrusive way, without disrupting writing processes.
The research will involve working with linguists and lexicographers to
design and code a set of tools that visualize and integrate information
on collocation with text editors. The work will include design studies,
code development and usability studies.

You should have a PhD (or about to submit) in Computer Science or
related area, with excellent computer interface design and development
experience. You should have experience of developing Human Computer
Interfaces (HCI) and/or data Visualization tools, experience with
carrying out user studies, have native or near-native knowledge of
English, good organizational skills, experience in creating and managing
databases. Additionally, you should be able to work independently and as
part of a research team, and be willing to collaborate remotely with
different members of the project, as well as in face-to-face
interactions and be willing to attend and be involved with international
conferences.

The project will involve close collaboration with a team of researchers
based at the Universities of Surrey and Bangor (UK) and Poznan (Poland),
with expertise in second language writing, corpus-based lexicography,
dictionary use research, data visualization and human-computer interaction.

The successful candidate will be expected to start December 2017 or as
soon as possible thereafter and the post is available for a period of
two and a half years.

Applications will only be accepted via our on-line recruitment website,
jobs.bangor.ac.uk <http://jobs.bangor.ac.uk>. However, in cases of
access issues due to disability,  paper application forms are available
