Scientific Programmer Position in Visualization of Meteorological
Simulation and Observation Data

Technical University of Munich, Computer Graphics and Visualization Group

------------

We are seeking a scientific programmer to work with us on the
next-generation 3D meteorological ensemble visualization software
"Met.3D". The software is available open-source at
https://bitbucket.org/wxmetvis/met.3d and is used by an increasing
number of meteorological research groups, including the collaborative
research centre "Waves to Weather"

Your task will be to implement major enhancements to the software's
graphics algorithms, data processing algorithms and user interface.
You'll be part of a growing working group that develops novel
visualization techniques to improve the way meteorologists visually
analyse their data, in particular ensemble simulation data.

To apply, you should have a university degree (BSc/MSc) in computer
science, meteorology, or a related field. Profound knowledge of C++
programming is required, ideally you also have experience in GPU-based
real-time computer graphics with OpenGL. Knowledge of software
development with Qt under Linux and Windows will be advantageous.

The position will be located at the Chair for Computer Graphics and
Visualization at the Technical University of Munich, Germany (Head:
Prof. Dr. Ruediger Westermann).

The position is full-time and paid according to the German public
service pay scale, up to TV-L E13 depending on your qualification. It is
initially limited to 12 months. If you are interested, there may be a
possibility to continue with a PhD project in meteorological
visualization after the first 12 months; other options may be available
as well.
