The Department of Computer Science at Brown University seeks applicants
for a faculty position in the broadly construed area of graphics,
visualization, and interaction, including such diverse areas as
computational photography, interaction devices and systems, and
information visualization.

The position is expected to start on September 1, 2016. We are
particularly interested in candidates whose research will help us build
bridges to university-level priorities in data science and
humanity-centered robotics, as well as other areas of strength in the
department. We will consider applications at all levels, with a
preference for junior candidates. We strongly encourage applications
from women and under-represented minorities.

The department has 27 tenured and tenure-track faculty members as well
as several adjunct, research, and visiting faculty members. Department
members frequently take advantage of Brown's interdisciplinary culture
via collaborations with numerous other departments and
centers, including Africana Studies, Applied Mathematics, Art, Biology,
Brain Science, Cognitive Linguistic and Psychological Sciences,
Computational Molecular Biology, Computer Vision, Economics,
Engineering, Mathematics, Medicine, the Physical Sciences, and Psychology.

Brown University is located in Providence, RI, an hour from Boston and
about three hours from New York City. Providence is a small city with
big life: it has distinctive architecture, a vibrant arts
community, superb food, easy access to major East Coast metropolises,
and spectacular coastlines only minutes away. To learn more, go to
http://cs.brown.edu/about/pvd

Applications should be completed by December 15, 2015. Applications will
be considered until the position is filled.

Inquiries may be addressed to faculty_search_2016@lists.cs.brown.edu
<mailto:faculty_search_2016@lists.cs.brown.edu>.

Qualifications

Junior applicants must have completed all requirements for the doctoral
degree by September 1, 2016. The initial appointment as assistant
professor is for four years and is renewable.Â

Application Instructions

All applicants must submit a curriculum vita and brief statements of
research and teaching interests. The department emphasizes  quality
and impact over quantity in evaluating the work of candidates, as also
recommended by the CRA, so applicants should also identify a small
number of the best results (papers, systems, etc.) for their
contributions are significant.

Applicants for a junior position must submit at least 3 letters of
reference; senior candidates must submit 5 names of references whom
the committee may contact.

Applications must be submitted via Interfolio; the application page is
http://apply.interfolio.com/32056, and requests all necessary
information from each applicant. Â

Please forward to potentially interested folks!
