*Postdoctoral Researcher Position & PhD Position
*
The EPFL Computer Graphics and Geometry Laboratory is launching a new
research initiative at the interface of
geometry processing, architectural geometry, and digital fabrication to
address major new challenges in computational design.
This research initiative is linked to the new National Center of
Competence in Research (NCCR) on Digital Fabrication (www.dfab.ch
<http://www.dfab.ch>).
The main focus of the NCCR is research into digital design and
manufacturing processes and their synthesis through the use of novel
technologies. Through a multidisciplinary approach the disciplines of
computer science, architecture, structural design, robotics, and
material sciences are brought together in an ambitious partnership to
establish digital technology as an essential part of future building
processes. As part of this collaboration effort, we will explore
computational design methods with applications in architecture,
facilitated by new additive and robotic fabrication technology.

*PhD Position*
As an applicant for the PhD position you are expected to have a 4- or
5-year Bachelor's or a Master's degree with a strong
background in computer science, mathematics, or engineering. You have
excellent programming skills, experience in software
construction, strong analytical and mathematical skills, and are
proficient in English. Your PhD project is embedded in a larger research
effort,
so we expect an interest in collaborative research as well as excellent
teamwork and communication skills.

*Postdoc Position*
As an applicant for the post-doc position you have a PhD degree in
computer science, math, engineering, or architecture with experience
in software development, geometry optimization, and computational
design. A proven track record of publications at the top journals
and conferences in computer graphics, geometry processing, architectural
geometry, or related fields is expected. You are proficient in
English and have excellent written and oral presentation skills. As part
of your responsibilities you are expected to co-advise PhD students and
manage collaborations within EPFL and the NCCR, and with our
international partners.

*EPFL*
The Ecole Polytechnique Federal de Lausanne (EPFL) is one of the leading
technical universities worldwide. EPFL is located in Lausanne at the
shore of Lake Geneva. We offer competitive salaries and a stimulating
and fun working environment with state-of-the-art facilities. The
working language at EPFL is English.
