              Department<o:p></o:p></span></b></p>

            is the transformation of data into insight for better
            decision making. Business Analytics is the application of
            analytics to business. The process required for the
            transformation of data into insight is multi-disciplinary.
             As such, business analytics falls at the intersection of
            computer science, statistics, mathematics (particularly
            optimization), and business. The Department of Business
            Analytics in the Tippie College of Business has been at the
            forefront of research in analytics since the beginning.  We
            have particular strengths in predictive analytics in the
            areas of health care, social issue, text, and social media. 
            Faculty members have developed key methodologies in social
            network analysis and continuous optimization.  Our
            department is also internationally known for work in supply
            chain design and transportation, including humanitarian

            Analytics and Information Systems, a part-time and full-time
            MS in Business Analytics, and a PhD program.  The Department
            of Business Analytics is actively engaged with companies and
            continuing to improve the learning experience for our
            students.  Our work with national and international
            companies is coordinated through the Tippie Analytics
            Cooperative.  Our department hosts an annual Analytics Case
            Competition and Women in Analytics and Leadership Conference
