Multiple PhD positions in the European Training Network for Fog
Computing for Robotics and Industrial Automation (FORA) <br>
<br>
15 full-time PhD positions are available at 7 partners in Sweden,
Denmark, Germany and Austria in the European Training Network
FORA-Fog Computing for Robotics and Industrial Automation. <br>
<br>
The partners in the project are: <br>
<br>
Technical University of Denmark (DTU), <br>
Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien), <br>
Mälardalen University (MDH), <br>
Technical University of Kaiserslautern (TUKL), <br>
TTTech, <br>
SYSGO and <br>
ABB. <br>
<br>
The project also has the following associated partners, where the
PhD students can do research visits: <br>

Danfoss Power Electronics (DANFOSS), <br>
Danish Technological Institute (DTI), <br>
UNIBAP, <br>
Volvo Construction Equipment, <br>
CISCO and <br>
NEBBIOLO. <br>

FORA starts Oct. 1st, 2017. <br>
<br>
We are at the beginning of a new industrial revolution, Industry
4.0, which will only become a reality through the convergence of
Operational and Information Technologies (OT & IT), and this
convergence will be achieved through Fog Computing. <br>
<br>
We are looking for PhD students to perform research on: a
reference system architecture for Fog Computing; resource
management mechanisms and middleware for deploying
mixed-criticality applications in the Fog; safety and security
assurance; service-oriented application modeling and real-time
machine learning. <br>
<br>
FORA is an interdisciplinary, international, intersectoral network
that will train the next generation of researchers in Fog
Computing with applicability to industrial automation. <br>
<br>
FORAs researchers will receive integrated training across key
areas (computer science and engineering, control engineering and
industrial automation, data science) necessary to fully realize
the potential of Fog Computing for Industry 4.0 and will move
between academic and industrial environments to promote
interdisciplinary and intersectoral learning. <br>
