in the research group Visual Data Analysis in Science and
Engineering. The position is offered from March<br class="">
1, 2017 and will be a fixed-term contract for 2 years with the
option to be extended.<br class="">
<br class="">
</div>
<div class=""><b class="">Job description<br class="">
</b>We are recruiting an exceptionally qualified researcher in
the area of analysis and visualization of<br class="">
spatiotemporal data. The researcher is expected to develop new
techniques for data analysis and visualization<br class="">
within the third-party project "High Definition Clouds and
Precipitation for Climate Prediction â HD(CP)2"<br class="">
(funded by BMBF, <a moz-do-not-send="true"
href="http://hdcp2.eu" class="">http://hdcp2.eu</a>) jointly
with climate researchers, meteorologists, mathematicians and<br
class="">
computer scientists. The on- and offline diagnostics include
the identification and tracking of time-dependent,<br class="">
deterministic, and stochastic objects, as well as the analysis
of turbulence properties and probability densities.<br
class="">
A specific focus will be on visual analysis of ensembles of
functional data.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
<b class="">Requirements</b><br class="">
You have a PhD in computer science, applied mathematics,
physics, or meteorology, and you have practical<br class="">
experience in the analysis and visualization of spatiotemporal
data. You like to design software and to develop<br class="">
algorithms. You have very good knowledge in programming (C ++)
and are interested in in-situ data analysis<br class="">
on high-performance computers. Experience in programming
Fortran and scripting languages (e.g., Python,<br class="">
Matlab) is a plus.<br class="">
You are expected to be highly motivated, self-reliant and to
be able to closely collaborate with researchers in<br class="">
the application areas. Good command of written and spoken
English is essential.</div>
<div class=""><br class="">
<b class="">What we offer<br class="">
</b>We offer a friendly working atmosphere, excellent
equipment, a challenging professional and<br class="">
international environment, and the possibility of academic
further development.<br class="">
We particularly welcome the application of women, since women
are generally underrepresented in<br class="">
information technology and ZIB strives to increase their
proportion in this research area.<br class="">
Persons with disabilities will be given preference when
equally qualified.<br class="">
Please send your application, quoting the reference code WA
