Position in Simulation for Surgical Planning <br>
<br>
The Interactive Graphics and Simulation Group, established
in 2014 at <br>
Innsbruck University, Austria, invites applications for the
position <br>
of a full-time post-doctoral researcher with focus on
modeling and <br>
simulation for surgical planning. <br>
<br>
We are seeking a qualified researcher with interest and
skill in medical <br>
simulation and surgical planning applications. The main
focus will be on <br>
the simulation of forearm motion, especially including
aspects of handling <br>
contacts between tissue models during movement. This will
concern elements <br>
of collision detection and response. The activity will be
carried out in <br>
the context of improving planning for forearm surgery,
within the scope <br>
of a collaborative Swiss-Austrian research project. The
partners comprise <br>
the University Hospital Balgrist in Zurich and the Institute
for Surgical <br>
Technology, University of Bern, Switzerland. <br>
<br>
Candidates should have earned a doctoral degree in a
relevant field, <br>
possess a publication record commensurate with experience,
and have <br>
demonstrated strengths in interactive simulation and
computer graphics. <br>
Basic knowledge in biomechanical modelling and surgical
planning is also <br>
a plus. A candidate showing enthusiasm for leading-edge
research, team <br>
spirit, and capability for independent problem-solving is
sought. <br>

The position is open immediately until filled. It is offered
for 18 months, <br>
with an option for extension, on the level of non-permanent
university <br>
research staff. Salaries are internationally competitive and
commensurate <br>
with qualification and experience. <br>
