<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: 100%">The University of
Houston is classified as a âTier Oneâ (Carnegie RU/VH)
research university, and is one of four major research
universities in Texas. We are located in central Houston, which
is the fourth largest city in the United States and a central
player in both energy and biomedical research. Houston is
currently the top city in the U.S. for job creation, and is home
to more than 20 Fortune 500 companies. We have a strong
industrial and academic research focus, including both NASA and
the Texas Medical Center, which is the largest medical center in
the world.</p>

<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: 100%">* Completed a
doctoral degree in computer engineering, computer science, or
related field, with research experience in visualization and
image processing (including data mining, visualization, and
machine learning).</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: 100%">* Demonstrate a
strong potential for successful interdisciplinary research. We
are currently focused on developing methods for collecting and
processing large-scale images of tissue using serial microscopy
and mid-infrared spectroscopic imaging. This will require
extensive collaboration with clinical colleagues at the nearby
Texas Medical Center, including the MD Anderson Cancer Center.</p>
<p style="margin-bottom: 0in; line-height: 100%">* Willingness to
