<pre>The Graphics Vision and Visualisation group (GV2) at Trinity College
Dublin is looking to fill positions for two post doctoral researchers
and two PhD students starting in September (or as soon as position is
filled) in the area of Scientific Volume Visualisation.
As part of the ARTTIVIS Project funded by Science Foundation Ireland,
we will investigate the visualisation of large-scale time-variant volume
data sets effectively in real-time. The project aims to address
optimisation of visualisation in two streams: in terms of perception
(addressing information overload, focus-and-context rendering,
visibility, visualisation of dynamic process) and performance (real-time
optimization, GPU/parallel techniques, VLIW architectures, low power
computing).
1) Post Doctoral Research (1-year contract renewable to 4 years):
Applicants are sought who have a recent (or are close to completing)
PhD or equivalent qualification in the area of volume visualisation,
volume graphics, perceptually-optimised rendering, scientific
visualisation, graphics optimization or related areas. Candidates should
have a track record of publications in international conferences, be
fluent in the English language and should have leadership skills and be
able to work in a team. Candidates should have excellent software
engineering skills and be familiar with the state-of-the-art in research
and existing solutions for volume visualisation.
2) PhD student (4-year fees and stipend)
Applicants are sought who have an excellent MSc, Honours Bachelors
degree or equivalent in computer science, computer engineering or
related subject. Alternately graduates of numerate disciplines
(Mathematics, Physics, Engineering) with significant experience in
computer programming and/or software/hardware development will be
considered. Candidates should be fluent in English (minimum 7.0 in IELTS
or equivalent) and have a strong interest in and evidence of experience
in computer graphics or visualisation. It would be a benefit to have
completed a major project, dissertation or published a paper in these
areas.
