<font face="sans-serif" size="2">IBM Research is seeking a summer
intern
candidate to work at</font><font face="sans-serif" size="1"> the
Thomas J.
Watson Research Center</font><font face="sans-serif" size="2">
in Yorktown
Heights, NY. The candidate will work on current projects
associated
with decision support and analysis in the environmental
sciences. The
successful candidate will create novel visualization, visual
analytics
and interactive methods that enable insight from and
communications of
complex acquired and simulated data in energy, environment and
related
applications. The candidate will work with the extant team to
improve
and maintain current capabilities, and develop and incorporate
new techniques.
Such a candidate should have strong communication skills and a
desire
to see new technology applied in real-world situations. The
candidate
will also interact with the scientific and business personnel at
IBM as
well as collaborators outside of IBM, participate and make
presentations
on their work and publish results. While it is expected that
the
candidate will have proven skills in working with a team, the
ability to
work independently is also required. Candidates in a PhD
program
in engineering (e.g., computer or civil), computer science,
physics, environmental
science or mathematics are preferred along with experience in
development
visualization environments such as Visualization Toolkit (VTK),
OpenDX,
etc., use of Linux graphics workstations, turnkey visualization
systems
such as ParaView or VisIt, web and mobile platform development,
experience in software
development in C/C++, python, etc. and experience in development
in OpenGL, Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA) or OpenCL
