University of North Carolina at Charlotte and the College
of Computing and Informatics invites applications or
nominations for the Bank of America Endowed Chair in
Information Technology. The Endowed Chair will reside in
the Department of Computer Science and will also serve as
Director of the Charlotte Visualization Center. The
College seeks candidates who have outstanding research
programs directed towards solving critical issues in
visualization, analytics, and/or data science. The
candidates must also show documented evidence of
leadership commensurate with leading a major research
center.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
<p

Charlotte Visualization Center (VisCenter,

href="http://www.viscenter.uncc.edu/">www.viscenter.uncc.edu</a>)
has 8 core faculty members who lead research in
visualization and/or analytics and 30 faculty members from
disciplines across the university. Many students, both
graduate and undergraduate, participate in VisCenter
research. The VisCenter has taken an essential role in the
college’s and university’s Data Science and Big Data
Analytics Initiative. The Endowed Chair will take a
leadership role in this initiative. The initiative
involves major industries in the region as well as state
and federal government entities. The focus is attacking
and solving significant real-world problems with
government and business partners with an emphasis on both
basic research and applications of demonstrated value.

programs directed toward the critical issues in
visualization with evidence of the ability to attack
real-world problems and challenges. An emphasis on visual
analytics or information visualization is a plus.
Substantial resources will be available to help the
