<pre>OPEN POSITIONS: PhD Students, Postdocs, Research Associates.
The Institute for Media Innovation (IMI <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://imi.ntu.edu.sg">http://imi.ntu.edu.sg</a>) at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore is looking for highly skilled researchers to work on various ongoing projects including all aspects of 3D autonomous Virtual Humans. This institute is an interdisciplinary institute grouping together researchers from various disciplines. It includes a very large 320 degrees immersive room, several motion capture devices and social robots.
Applications are invited for several PhDs, Postdoctoral positions and Research Associates. We are searching for highly motivated and driven individuals looking for research opportunities in Computer Graphics and Virtual Reality. Researchers will be mainly involved in research projects for our new Immersive Room. Our general objective is to create synergies between real and virtual worlds, including Virtual Humans(VHs), Virtual Animals and Social Robots. Typical topics of research will be:
* Automatic reconstruction of the real human and generation of virtual counterpart
* Gesture and facial emotion recognition
* Modelling of local autonomy
* Transition between an avatar and an autonomous Virtual Human
* Modelling basic senses: vision, audition, tactile
* Modelling short and long-term memory
* Personality and emotion models for VHs and Robots
* Modelling of high-level behaviours for VHs and Robots
* Obstacle avoidance and path planning for VHs and robots
* Multimodal Interface (Speech, gesture, vision)
* Immersion in a crowd
* Interacting in Augmented and Mixed Reality
Candidates should have a strong background in Computer Graphics, Computer Animation and/or Virtual Reality. Computational skills (C, C++,) are required and a good background in mathematics and/or physics is also a good asset.
Applicants must have a Master or a Ph.D. in Computer Science or in a related area with demonstrated potential for research. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications abilities in English. Appointment for this position will commence immediately until filled.
To apply:
Interested applicants are encouraged to send a curriculum vita, including the name and email of three references, via email to the Institute for Media Innovation (<a class="moz-txt-link-abbreviated" href="mailto:D-imi@ntu.edu.sg">D-imi@ntu.edu.sg</a><a class="moz-txt-link-rfc2396E" href="mailto:D-imi@ntu.edu.sg"><mailto:D-imi@ntu.edu.sg></a>)
